ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Information Science & Engineering was established in 2008 and currently admits 60 students for its Undergraduate course. As an affiliated institute of Visvesvaraya Technological University in Belagavi, the department follows the university’s curriculum, examination, and academic structure. The curriculum is designed to meet the current industrial requirements and is supported by state-of-the-art laboratories covering all major areas of Information Technology. The department is dedicated to providing precise, complete, and relevant information to modern society in all its practices. Its goal is to meet the growing demands of the market by providing high-quality services through well-skilled and highly qualified engineers. To facilitate students in gaining true knowledge, skills, and personality development, the department offers a standardized, well-managed, and state-of-the-art infrastructure.
The department provides excellent infrastructure for students to develop innovative applications. In collaboration with ARK Solutions, they receive industry-oriented Unity software training from the 5th to the 8th semester, enabling them to build Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality applications on campus. The department also offers in-house certification training on blockchain and cybersecurity courses in association with CDAC. State-of-the-art infrastructure laboratories are available in the department, providing hands-on experience in various IT technologies. Additionally, the department has specialized Center of Excellence laboratories in the areas of Cyber Security, Blockchain, and Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality.

Our motive is to meet and fulfill the growing demands of market by providing best quality services through well-skilled and highly qualified engineers. In order to facilitate the students for gaining true knowledge, skills and personality, we provide a standardized, well managed, state-of-the-art infrastructure.
The main emphasis of the department is on imparting practical knowledge to students. Department organizes regular workshops, invites industry experts for talks, arranges industrial visits, conducts pre-placement orientation programs and on-campus recruitment events, provides career guidance, and promotes entrepreneurship and startup initiatives among students. Industry Connect courses are initiated in collaboration with industry experts, which directly contribute to placements. The faculty members in the department are actively involved in a wide range of research areas, including robotics, networking, and software systems. Undergraduate students have the opportunity to engage in research and work closely with faculty on academic projects. The department encourages students and staff to publish and present papers in various international conferences and peer-reviewed journals. Graduate students develop independent projects with faculty guidance, preparing them for further academic pursuits or careers in industry. The department maintains an active environment with numerous opportunities for student involvement and alumni engagement.

Graduation students of Bachelor of Information Science & Engineering program at Rajeev Institute of Technology will attain the following program outcomes in the field of Information Technology.
- Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an Engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
- Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences
- Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, and cultural, societal, and environmental considerations

INFRASTRUCTURE / FACILITIES
The Department of Information science and engineering has four laboratories. All labs are highly equipped with sufficient systems with all the necessary software and hardware tools required for conducting the experiments. The Department is also having Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality (ARVR) lab. The Department has qualified and experienced staff members to provide high quality education and attention to individual student is given.
Department Library
The library of ISE department is having 250+ books and information resources. The department supplies aspiring quench for understanding by using the addition of the right large variety of books to its branch library racks.
Academic activity in the Department is centrally managed by the library. There are more than 300 books, periodicals, and reports in the Department’s collection. It also has one copy each of all B.E. projects reports carried out in the department in recent years. All these cater to the needs of students and faculty. Most of the books are of recent editions and have the facility of being issued for a specified time period.
Laboratory Details
Software Testing Laboratory
This laboratory course enables students to get practical experience in the process checks for errors and gaps and whether the outcome of the application matches desired expectations before the software is installed and goes live.
Mobile Application Development Laboratory
This laboratory course enables students to get practical experience with working principles of the Android Studio. All the Experiments of Mobile Application Development Lab are developed using Android Studio. They will get the knowledge about Android Studio.
Internet of Things Laboratory
This laboratory teaches the design and analysis of IOT systems. They come know about terminology, technology and its application of IOT. Also gives the concept of M2M (machine to machine) with necessary protocols and Python Scripting Language which is used in many IOT devices.
Application to Python Programming Laboratory
This lab interpret the fundamental Python syntax and semantics and be fluent in the use of Python control flow statements. Express proficiency in the handling of strings and functions. Understand Determine the methods to create and manipulate Python programs by utilizing the data structures like lists, dictionaries, tuples and sets. Identify the commonly used operations involving file systems and regular expressions. Articulate the Object-Oriented Programming concepts such as encapsulation, inheritance and polymorphism as used in Python.
File Structure Laboratory
This lab implements various operations on files. Apply indexing techniques on files .Employ multiple lists merging concept for files. Synthesize and implement the multilevel indexing concept (B Trees) on files. Apply the hashing technique to resolve collision of records.
Web Programming Laboratory
This lab explores Design and develops static and dynamic web pages. The lab familiarizes with Client-Side Programming, Server-Side Programming, and Active server Pages. This also provides to learn Database Connectivity to web applications. To get exposure to Server Side Scripting, Perl & PHP programming.
Database Applications Laboratory
This lab explores foundation knowledge in database concepts, technology and practice to groom students into well-informed database application developers. This lab provides Strong practice in SQL programming through a variety of database problems. This lab helps in developing database applications using front-end tools and back-end DBMS. To create Databases with different types of Integrity Constraints and use the SQL commands such as DDL, DML, DCL, and TCL to access data from database objects.
Computer Network Laboratory
This lab Demonstrate operation of network and its management commands, Simulate and demonstrate the performance of GSM and CDMA, Implement data link layer and transport layer protocols. It develops and executes algorithms at Data Link Layer, Network Layer, Cryptographic Algorithm, and Socket Programming with IPC Communication and simulation of various Network Topologies and LAN technologies using NS2.
Design & Analysis of Algorithms Laboratory
This lab explains various computational problems solving techniques, Apply appropriate method to solve a given problem and describe various methods of algorithm analysis. This is also used for understand and implement algorithms related to graphs, backtracking, sorting and traversal algorithms. It Design and implement various algorithms in JAVA. This also employs various design strategies for problem solving.
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Laboratory
To Design and Implement Machine learning concepts and algorithms using available standard data sets. To implement and demonstrate classification, prediction, regression and clustering algorithms using Python. Also helps in understanding artificial neural network concepts.
Data Structures with C / C++ Laboratory
This laboratory course enables students to get practical experience in design, develop, implement, analyze and evaluation/testing of asymptotic performance of algorithms, linear data structures and their applications such as Stacks, Queues and Lists, Non-Linear Data Structures and their Applications such as Trees and Graphs Sorting and Searching Algorithms
Electronic Circuits and Logic Design Laboratory
This Lab explores the design, construction, and debugging of analog electronic circuits like rectifiers, clipping circuits, clamping circuits and voltage regulators. The lab computes the parameters from the characteristics of JFET and MOSFET devices. Also investigates the performance characteristics of diodes, transistors, JFETs, and op-amps, including the construction of a small audio amplifier and preamplifiers. Evaluate BJT amplifiers in CE configuration and test various types of oscillators.
Microcontroller and Embedded System Laboratory
This lab student will come to know about Assembly Language/embedded C programming of Microcontroller. Understand interfacing simple peripheral devices to Microcontroller. Engage student groups to design and implement simple embedded systems.
Project Laboratory

INDUSTRIAL VISIT – 2023-24
An industrial visit to KMF (Karnataka Milk Federation) in Channarayapatna provides students with valuable insights into dairy production and processing. During the visit, participants can observe various stages of milk collection, pasteurization, and packaging. They also get a chance to learn about the role of technology in ensuring milk quality and hygiene. Additionally, the visit highlights KMF’s contributions to the cooperative movement and its impact on rural livelihoods, offering a practical understanding of the dairy industry.
INDUSTRIAL VISIT – 2022-23
MCF HASSAN
Master Control Facility (MCF) at Hassan in Karnataka and Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh monitors and controls all the geo-stationary satellites of ISRO. MCF carries out operations related to initial orbit rising of satellites, in-orbit payload testing, and on-orbit operations throughout the life of these satellites. The operations involve continuous tracking, telemetry and commanding, special operations like eclipse management, station-keeping manoeuvres and recovery in case of contingencies.
KMF HASSAN
Hassan co-operative milk producers’ society union ltd was established with an aim to support small and marginal farmers and agricultural labours through dairy development. Farmers were not sure of receiving a remunerative price for their agricultural products so more and more farmers taken up diary as their main occupation rather than subsidiary occupation for their livelihood. The milk union is committed to accept all the milk offered by the milk producers in the milk shed area and hence there is a considerable increase in milk procurement during recent years. Hassan milk union believes that it is a social responsibility on part of the union to pay remunerative price to the farmers.

“We have developed a 2D Unity game called Monster Chase. The game features a player navigating through a world filled with various monsters and enemies. Players must strategically evade enemies by jumping on monsters and zombies to safeguard their lives. In the event of a player’s defeat, there is an option to replay the current game. Our development incorporated straightforward animations, user-friendly interface designs, diverse zombie animations, and intricate zombie designs. Notably, the game dynamically generates zombies and enemies infinitely through automated processes, guided by C# code.”

In crafting our AR maze game with Unity, we seamlessly integrated the virtual with the real, using AR Foundation for camera and sensor functionalities. Players explore dynamic mazes overlaying their surroundings, thanks to marker less tracking for object recognition. User-friendly touch controls or device movements guide navigation through the maze, ensuring an engaging experience. Our collaborative development efforts, covering 3D modeling, scripting, and AR optimization, resulted in a visually stunning and smooth performance across diverse devices. The game offers a novel and immersive way to tackle maze challenges in the augmented reality space.
Activities done in Augmented Reality internship
In our Unity-based augmented reality (AR) project, we crafted a marker-based AR app that seamlessly integrates 3D models upon detecting specific markers. Users experience an immersive overlay of virtual content as they showcase the marker.
Additionally, we developed a marker less AR app showcasing celestial bodies and a jet engine. This innovative application enables the placement of 3D models of planets and jet engines directly into the real world, transcending the limitations of markers. Users can explore and interact with these virtual objects as if they coexist in their physical surroundings.
These projects showcase the versatility of Unity in creating engaging AR experiences, whether marker-based or marker less, by blending digital elements with the real world to provide captivating and interactive content.

PROCESS OF MENTORING
Each Mentor is responsible for overseeing and managing a cohort of 20 to 24 students. They are required to diligently document and upkeep the information of each student within the proctor book.
The Mentor is expected to arrange approximately three to four interactive sessions with students as part of the mentoring schedule.
1st Mentoring Meet:
In the first mentoring session after IA-1, the agenda includes:
- Gathering information on students categorized as Advanced, Average, and Slow Learners within the class.
- Exploring students’ interests, hobbies, and their involvement in curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities.
- Engaging in a discourse on the academic performance of the previous semester, emphasizing the significance of internal tests and regular attendance.
- Inquiring about students’ performance in IA-1.
2nd Mentoring Meet:
In the second mentoring session after IA-2, the agenda involves:
- Reviewing the performance of the 2nd Internal Assessment (IA) with a focus on individual courses. If a student’s performance is deemed unsatisfactory, reasons for the low scores are discussed, and appropriate suggestions are provided for improvement.
- Encouraging students to actively engage in a variety of co-curricular and extracurricular activities to enhance their overall development.
3rd Mentoring Meet:
In the third mentoring session after IA-3, the agenda includes:
- Reviewing the performance of the 3rd Internal Assessment (IA) concerning individual courses. If a student’s performance falls below expectations, a discussion on the reasons for low scores takes place, and tailored suggestions are provided for improvement.
- Additionally, students are encouraged to formulate an action plan for effective Semester End Exam preparation.

- Timely communication of each student’s Internal Assessment performance and attendance records will be conveyed to their respective parents.
